Description: This two-year course provides for intensive examination of the ideas and concepts in Bowen theory through didactic persentations by faculty, application of these ideas by students in their own family and work system, and written assignments. Attendance at the three-part Lecture Series on Bowen theory, the seven part CLinical Forum Series and the Pittsburgh Family Systems Conference and Symposium is included. Learning to be more objective observers of self in the "living laboratories" of their lives, and to more effectively regulate their own functioning, are central aims of the Basic Seminar. Students have access to and are encouraged to make use of the Educational Resource Center library's collection of books, articles, reference materials, audiotapes and videotapes on Bowen theory.
Eligibility: Professionals and non-professionals. Completion of course application is required for first-year students. The application is available on line.
