This card is to be filled out including the date borrowed, borrowers name and phone number. The borrower will write the date due on the date due plate on the card pocket. After the card has been filled out it is to be placed in the "card check out box" on the mantel. Borrowers are to return books to the shelves with cards returned to the card pocket. There is an overdue fee of $0.25 per day for books kept beyond the borrowing time.

There are four collections of books: the general collection with materials related to theories of human behavior, family systems theory, family therapy, and natural systems; the Hollander Collection with books on concerns of businesses and organizations; the Bowen Reference Collection that has materials referenced in Dr. Bowen’s book Family Therapy in Clinical Practice; and Reserve books, located on the mantel and marked "Reserve" for reference only, which may not be removed from the library.

The ERC Library provides faculty, members and students with various educational resources. Audio and videotapes, books, articles and reference materials are just some of the resources available. Many materials are original and not found in any other library. In the tri-state area, the ERC Library is the only one that specializes in resources concerned with Bowen family systems theory and therapy. It has the only area circulating videotape collection of Dr. Bowen's work.

Generally, the more ways individuals track, observe, hear, and learn about various perspectives of systems thinking the better chance they have of gaining a more subtle and sophisticated understanding.
A library assists learning. It supports an interest in an idea by providing materials that follow the idea in the past-how have others thought about this, what did they see, try, discard, revise, leave unfinished? A library contains a record of the work of others that is useful for the individual's own exploration and planning. A library influences the future course of knowledge and understanding by offering a variety of perspectives. Ideas emerge from contact with library materials. Over time, a few of these ideas may return to become a part of the library collection. In this way, a library sustains itself.

Anyone may use the library materials. Students and members may borrow items for personal use. For information or to obtain a videotape and/or audiotape catalogue call 412-362-2295.
